Dernek gönüllülerimiz Yunanistan’ın Atina kentinde Humanity and Youth tarafından gerçekleştirilen In the name of Humanity isimli Erasmus+ Gençlik Projesine katıldı. Bu projede Macaristan, İtalya, Litvanya, Çek Cumhuriyeti, Bulgaristan, Portekiz ve Türkiye olmak üzere 7 katılımcı ülke yer aldı. 5-13 Ekim tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilen projede ekibimizden 6 gönüllü projede yer aldı. Projenin amacı, gençleri yabancı düşmanlığından uzak tutmaktır. Projenin yer aldığı Atina şehrinde katılımcılar, mültecilerin de kaldığı Welcommon Hostel isimli bir hostelde kalmıştır. Böylelikle projedekiler Avrupa’daki mültecilerin konumu hakkında yeni bakış açıları kazandılar. Proje kapsamındaki etkinlikler arasında en dikkat çekici olanlardan biri de katılımcıların Atina sokaklarındaki mültecilerle etkileşime girerek onların hayatlarını öğrenip fotoğraflayarak sunmasıdır. Bu etkinlikte amaç, hayatlarını daha iyi hale getirmek için ülkelerini terk eden insanların deneyimlerini dinlemek ve onlarla empati kurmaktır. Sonrasında katılımcılar kendi ülkelerindeki mültecilerle ilgili sunumlar hazırlamıştır. Sunumlarda resmi ve gayri resmi bilgiler, kişilerin tecrübeleri ve katılımcı ülkelerin vatandaşlarının genel bakış açıları sık sık dile getirilmiştir. Hostelin çok kültürlü yapısı sayesinde birçok etkinlik üzerine yorumlar yapılarak daha anlamlı hale getirilmiştir. Son olarak katılımcılar Atina Çağdaş Sanatlar Ulusal Müzesi’ne götürülerek dünyanın birçok yerinden mültecilerin kendilerini ifade etmelerine şahit olmuşlardır. Ubuntu isimli sergi odasındaki kanatlı figür “Mültecilerin Meleği” adıyla In the name of Humanity Projesi’nin sembolü olmuştur.
Our NGO volunteers participated in the Erasmus+ Youth Project called In the name of Humanity, carried out in Athens, Greece by Humanity and Youth. 7 participating countries, namely Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Portugal and Turkey, took part in this project. 6 volunteers from our team took part in the project, which was carried out between 5-13 October. The aim of the project is to keep young people away from xenophobia. In the city of Athens, where the project takes place, the participants stayed in a hostel called Welcommon Hostel, where refugees also stay. Thus, those involved in the project gained new perspectives on the situation of refugees in Europe. One of the most striking activities within the scope of the project was the participants interacting with refugees on the streets of Athens, learning about their lives and presenting them by photographing them. The aim of this event was to listen to and empathize with the experiences of people who left their country to change their lives for the better. Afterwards, the participants prepared presentations about refugees in their own countries. In the presentations, official and informal information, the experiences of the people and the general perspectives of the citizens of the participating countries were frequently mentioned. Thanks to the multicultural structure of the hostel, all these activities became more meaningful and beneficial for us. Finally, the participants were taken to the National Museum of Contemporary Arts in Athens and witnessed the expression of refugees from many parts of the world. The winged figure in the exhibition room called Ubuntu became the symbol of the In the name of Humanity Project with the name "Angel of Refugees".
